DECK Founder & Director Gwen Lee in conversation with photographer Loke Hong Seng, Singapore

Join Gwen Lee, co-founder of 2902 Gallery, International Singapore Photo Festival and Founder of DECK art space in conversation with photographer, Loke Hong Seng about the social and historical context of his documentary photographs of Singapore’s culture in the 1960s and 70s. The conversation will consider Loke’s practice departing from pictorialism and the project Photographic Time Capsule (1975-1980), his photographs which have been only recently resurfaced and exhibited.

Loke Hong Seng is a fine art photographer who specialised in shooting street portraits of Singapore during the period from 1963 to 1985 and member of Singapore’s pioneer generation. Loke received the Golden Award from the 3rd Singapore Photo Art Photography Society and the One World for All UNESCO Award. He exhibited at the Unesco Headquarters, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, American Club, Yeo Workshop, Raffles Place Green and UOB.

Gwen Lee established together with friends 2902
 Gallery and the Singapore International Photography Festival 
(SIPF), an international photography platform in Southeast Asia.
 She received the Creative Talent Grant as well as the award from 
Japan Chamber of Commerce & Trade. In 2014, she created the art space, DECK to provide a platform and residency programme for photographers. Lee frequently lectures and participates in juries in Asia and Europe.
